Fracking creates more waste, costs more than energy gained and is for export. We all know that now and so do you, so you are accountable for your actions.

Clean air, clean water are a MUST. Fracking and coal burners are bad practice, unhealthy and must stop. Tar sands are "dirty energy". Please work on clean energy solutions. Preserve our planet and our health.

When I was in college in the 70s, I was excited that renewable energy use wouldn't be far off. It is so disappointing how Koch money and big oil lobbyists have been able to slow such an obviously needed solution to our energy and environmental needs.

Ending The Era Of Global Warming As a degreed mechanical engineer with 36 years of experience I am convinced that we must stop burning fossil fuels. Approximately 16 pounds of CO2 are exhausted into the air for every gallon of gasoline we burn in our vehicles and they persist for hundreds of years. Presently (2013) there are 550 billion tons of excess CO2 in the atmosphere from human burning fossil fuels over the last 262 years. This excess CO2 has caused the measured amount of CO2 in the air to go from 285 to 400 ppm. The excess CO2 is the major cause of global warming. Each year approximately 35 billion tons is added to the total but even if it is reduced global warming will continue to increase. The only real solution is to remove the excess CO2 from the air. Three current papers by Oak Ridge Lab, American Physical Society and MIT concludes that it is possible with existing technologies, but using fossil fuels as an energy source would make the atmosphere worse. Jim Holm's web site www.skyscrubber.com explains how it can be done with new types of factory built nuclear reactors that are smaller, safer, more efficient and less expensive.

As a business owner and as a human who cares deeply about people surviving the Climate Crisis, I believe we are already experiencing Climate Change. Best under 350 parts per million (PPM), the CO2 in the global atmosphere just passed 400 PPM and the time for action is passing fast. I see a Revenue Neutral Carbon Fee (or Tax) along with a Dividend returned to the public as the very BEST solution. A steadily increasing Carbon Tax and Dividend with the carbon fee at the mine or wellhead corrects a Market Distortion in the Free Market that lets dirty energy Pollute for Free. The Carbon Fee makes dirty energy more expensive and helps Businesses to plan with Predictability. All get serious about clean Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation. No new Government Bureaucracy is needed. A Carbon Fee and Dividend can be Revenue Neutral which supports the “No new tax” pledges made by some legislators. A steadily rising tax on Carbon-Based Fuels that returns revenue to the public is a Market Based Solution favored by a number of conservatives (ie: George Shultz, Secretary of State under Reagan), New York Times editors on both political sides, environmentalists, economists, etc. For more information, please see www.CitizensClimateLobby.org or www.CarbonTax.org Kudos to One Million Calls for Clean Energy and to Jay Butera.
